The Emerald Show Society hosted the second annual What’s On in Emerald Expo in January 2026, following the successful inaugural event in March 2025. The Expo is a one-stop community event showcasing local clubs, organisations, services and activities available in Emerald.
In 2026, the Expo featured 36 stallholders and attracted over 600 attendees, highlighting strong community engagement and growing interest in the event.

Performing Arts
CH Performing Arts, founded and run by Anna Farquhar, is a vibrant, community-driven performing arts school based in Emerald, QLD. With the motto “Creativity has no limits,” CHPA offers inclusive theatre, music, and vocal programs for all ages — from little beginners to seasoned performers. Our mission is to provide affordable, high-quality training and free performance opportunities that build confidence, connection, and creativity in the Central Highlands.
DancEdge Emerald caters for all dancers from 0 to 80 years +. DancEdge Emerald is a not for profit organisation. We offer various dance genres including but not limited to: Tap, Jazz, Ballet, Contemporary, Hip Hop, Acro Cheer, Chair Tap, DancAbility, Happy Feet and Wiggles Hip Hop and Ballet.

Education and Learning
Borilla Kindergarten (Emerald) is a not for profit, community-based triple unit kindergarten in Emerald QLD affiliated with the Gowrie Inc. offering a Qld Government Approved Kindergarten program. Founded in 1992, this rural kindergarten has a long-time focus on supporting children and families. Borilla Kindergarten caters for children aged from 3 years to school age, providing free sessional kindergarten with options for before and after kindy care.
Borilla Kindergarten is rated as an Exceeding service.

Emerald Gumnuts Playgroup hosts two sessions each week during term time. Monday and Friday 9.30am to 11am. At Centenary Park on Centenary Drive Emerald.
All children birth to school age welcome to attend with parent or carer. Joining Playmatters is highly encouraged.
Outback Exploratorium (OXp) is a local charity that deliveries STEAM (science, technology, engineering, arts, maths) education activities to regional students. You can connect with OXp through joining Science Squad (primary), Curiosity Club (Under 6s), holiday workshops and artist workshops (all ages), outreach to other towns and schools or custom designed OXp Emerald based STEAM workshops.
Sports and Recreation
Field Archery Club in Emerald Central Queensland. Fun for the whole family and all styles and experience
Our club season runs from March to September each year at Marist College oval. We cater for ages 4 years through to adults. Our aim is to provide athletes of any level of experience and ability the opportunity to grow and develop whilst enjoying the sport of athletics. We teach the basic skills of track and field events; each athlete's goal being improving their personal best (PB). We encourage parents to volunteer on club days. Membership is free to coaches, officials and volunteers. We are affiliated with Athletics North Queensland; club members can attend ANQ events & access learning opportunities throughout the year.
Emerald Boxing and Fitness Club is a not-for-profit sporting club ecouraging youths of all ages, gender and backgrounds to challenge themselves through teamwork and discipline, while having fun and creating new friendships. From beginners to competitive boxers we cater for everyone, including those interested in becoming involved in coaching/training.
Emerald Gymnastics and Trampoline Club provides a broad range of gymnastics activities and classes for all the family, from kindergym for the under 5s, to adult classes.
We’re located in the Emerald Indoor Sports Centre, with excellent equipment including a full size trampoline, sprung floor and a large foam pit. We’re passionate about working with all skill levels to provide a fun and informative environment to exercise, learn and grow.
Emerald Junior Golf is open for children aged 5-18 year. We run our skills training every Saturday morning at 8am during the school term. Competitions within the Central Highlands (and other areas) are available and encouraged for juniors to attend. Competitions are generally held from March -October. We have a pro shop available at the golf club where equipment can be purchased if required.

Situated in the sporting precinct of Opal St, the Emerald Tennis Club welcomes you to enjoy playing in the beautiful Central Highlands. Memberships are available online and will provide you with free daytime court hire. Junior & Senior fixtures compete during school terms and the annual Open Tournament in May attracts many interstate players to compete against local talent.
Emerald Amateur Swimming Club provides a swimming carnival like event each Tuesday night in Terms 4 and Terms 1 of the school year. We allow swimmers as young as 4 to join as long as they can swim 25 metres. Each Tuesday night we offer three of the four competitive strokes along with a distance event for the alternate competitive stroke.
At Showtime Boxing, our mission is to build a connected, inclusive community where everyone can grow in self-confidence, discipline, and skills that extend beyond the ring into everyday life.
Our purpose is simple: to bring out the best in every member. We’re like family here – egos are left at the door, and everyone is encouraged to grow both in and out of the ring, showing up with pride, resilience, and respect.

Ladies Social Comp (15yrs+) with 1x 10 week season with games fortnightly on Tuesday evenings.
Academy (Club Representative) Teams with extra training and games, competing regionally at carnivals.
U14 Club Representative for Central Coast Competition in Rockhampton who play 2x games fortnightly.

Located at Epic All Sports Fields on Glenn Street, Emerald QLD, the Emerald Magpies Cricket Club is a welcoming, family-friendly community club focused on building skills, friendships, and a love for cricket.
We offer opportunities for players of varying ages and abilities – from juniors aged 8–16 to seniors of any age. Whether you're new to the game or a seasoned player, there's a place for you at the Magpies.

headspace Emerald is a free or low cost, confidential service that helps young people in the Central Highlands region aged 12-25 with their mental health and wellbeing.
We liaise closely with General Practitioners, Sexual Health Services, Vocational Education Services and Alcohol and Other Drug Services so that we can focus your care on your individual needs whilst working with our in-house team to offer you tailored support. We also offer fun social groups for 12-25 year olds including Gaming Group, Creative Group, and Chill out Groups.

14ACU Emerald Detachment accepts recruits from the ages of 13-17. Our parades are on Wednesdays during school terms at Emerald SHS. Our parade times are 4:30pm-7:30pm.
Emerald Malkari Girl Guides meet on Thursday nights from 5:30 - 7pm during term time. We are a mixed age group from 7 to 17. Girl Guides provide a non-formal educational program designed to create leaders of tomorrow by building on strengths and personal skills development. As of 2025 we do have a waiting list, but welcome enquiries from youth, as well as adults who may wish to become volunteer leaders.

Central Highlands Easter Sunflower Festival Committee
The festival is held every Easter and features a wide range of community events, including a High Tea, Speech Night and Art Gallery Opening, Barefoot Bowls, a Street Parade, Family Fun Day, races, a rodeo, and Music ’n’ Mingle events.
A highlight of the festival is the Queen Quest, which promotes opportunities for young ladies to develop leadership skills and build meaningful connections within the community. Our sister city, Altona, Canada, plays an important role in the celebrations, a hosting exchange program between the Queens creating long lasting friendships across the globe.
In 2026, we proudly celebrate the 50th anniversary of the festival.
