After an enthusiastic public vote on our website, the community has spoken — and we’re thrilled to officially announce the 2026 Emerald Agricultural Show theme:

Gems of the Highlands

Thank you to everyone who took the time to vote. We loved seeing the excitement and discussion around all four finalist themes, each highlighting something special about our region and our future. But in the end, one theme truly sparkled above the rest.

Why Gems of the Highlands?

This winning theme celebrates the rich landscape and sparkling treasures of the world-famous sapphire Gemfields and the rugged natural beauty that makes our region shine.

It’s a theme that reflects who we are:

• A region shaped by the land

• A community built on resilience and ingenuity

• A place with stories buried deep beneath the surface and proudly displayed above it.

Gems of the Highlands gives us the perfect opportunity to showcase not only gemstones, but also the people, history, creativity, and industries that make the Central Highlands Gemfields truly priceless.

Where You’ll See the Theme at the 2026 Emerald Show

As always, the annual theme will be woven throughout the Show, adding colour, creativity, and inspiration across many sections. You can expect to see Gems of the Highlands featured in:

• School displays and education classes, encouraging students to explore local history, geology, and regional pride

• Handicraft competitions, where creativity can truly sparkle

• Other pavilion sections, capturing the colours, textures, and landscapes of the Highlands

• Decorations and displays across the Showgrounds

We’re also planning interactive activities and experiences that celebrate the Gemfields, giving visitors of all ages the chance to get involved, learn something new, and maybe even uncover a hidden gem or two.

What’s Next?

We’re currently finalising the 2026 Show schedules, with the new theme being incorporated into relevant competitions and sections. These will be released very soon, and we can’t wait to share them with exhibitors, schools, and the wider community.
